PLUNKET SOCIETY
The monthly meeting of the committee of the Dunedin branch of the Plunket Society was held last week, and was attended by Mrs McGeorge (in the chair), Mesdames Begg, Carr, > Longbottom. Moodie, Price, Reid, Sidey, Speight, Turner, Alexander, and Parkinson (Maeandrew Bay), Taverner (South Dunedin), Cunninghame (Port Chalmers), Price and Earnshaw (Roslyn), Bauld (Wakari), Dyke and Walker (Waverley), McGregor (Portobello), and Misses Johnstone and Theomln.
The matron of the Truby King-Harris Hospital reported that during May, 19 mothers and 35 babies had been admitted, and 21 mothers and 34 babies had been discharged'. Patients had been admitted from Gore, Outram, Balclutha, Waipori Falls, Clinton, Evan's Flat, Port Chalmers, Waikouaiti, Timaru, and Kaitangata, as well as from Dunedin and suburDs. a
The charge nurse reported that during May, Miss Molineaux gave a lecture demonstration to 50 Plunket aids at Port Chalmers, and Miss Carter, assisted by Miss J. Scott, gave a lecture to Plunket aids at Sidey Hall, which was followed by a practice in the various duties required of them. The report, summarising the work of the Dunedin Plunket nurses, stated that in May there were 2053 babies on the list and 975 older children; 1235 visits had been paid to homes and 4647 paid to offices (2317 mothers, 2084 babies, and 246 older children), and there were 100 new cases for the month.
