CONCERTS FOR SOLDIERS

An enjoyable evening was given at one of the camps on Tuesday night, when the officers and men were entertained with a community sing and musical items. Mr J. F. Himburg was the leader, with Mr A. Pettitt at the piano. This was the first visit to this camp, and the singing of the old and new songs by the men was excellent. The assisting performers were Miss Bertha Rawiinson and Mr Arthur Robertson (vocal duets). Miss Doris Darracott, Miss Bessie Gallien (songs), Mr Frank White (character songs), Privste Arthur Bolton (cornel solos), and Mr Pettitt (pianoforte solos). All the performers received a splendid reception. Captain G. Seddon, on behalf of the officers and men, thanked the party for visiting the camp. Members of the Dunedin Ladies' Brass Band, under the conductorship of Mr Hilmer Davie, also visited one of the camos on Tuesday night, and entertained the "officers and men. The band played items of a popular nature and received an ovation. ■ Others who assisted were Mrs John MacFarlane, Bandlady June Meenan, and Bandlady Jessie Leishman (vocal solos). Mrs J. Yule was the accompanist. Ma.ior Williamson returned thanks on behalf of the officers and men.
