HOCKEY
WOMEN'S ASSOCIATION A meeting of the Otago Women's Hockey Association was held on Monday evening. Mrs Sonntag occupied the chair, and thos;? present were Misses OHiver, Mitchell, Wylie, York, Phillips, Mrs Austin and Mr Leith. A letter was received from the Otago Umpires' Association asking that players be more prompt In taking the field in the early matches and also that they wear their registered club uniforms. It was decided to advise captains of teams that they were responsible for placing line flags on the grounds for-early matches and bringing them in from late matches. Advice was received from the New Zealand Women's Hockey Association that Mr Leith had been appointed umpires' examiner. The umpires' theory examination will be held on July 20, and entries will close on July 2. Mr Leith was appointed supervisor.
Permission was granted fo transfer ,D. Sew Hoy from Otago to Dunedin on condition that she had not played for Otago this season. Otago was granted permission to regrade M. Doull from A Grade to B Grade. ;
Mrs Sonntag, Miss Warburton, and Miss Wilson were appointed senior selectors. It was reported that the coaching of teams during play had occurred in recent matches, and it was pointed out that the umpires had the right to make the clubs responsible forfeit their maches if this was not stopped.
