MADE IN AUSTRALIA

BEAUFORT BOMBERS SUCCESSFUL PATROL WORK (N.Z.P.A. Special Aust. Correspondent) (Rec. 0.45 a.m.) SYDNEY, June 23. The Minister for Air, Mr A. S. Drakeford, has stated that Australian-made Beaufort bombers are being used for submarine patrol work. They were constantly watching enormous tracts of ocean, and the recent sinkings of enemy submarines off the New South Wales coast showed that the detection work of the Allied airmen was of a high standard. While it would be unwise to minimise the menace of an enemy submarine campaign. Mr Drakeford said, the successes gained by our bombers so far have been most encouraging. Other submarine packs were likely to attack Australian shipping, and Allied patrols were keeping an unpeasing watch.
