AMERICA AND CANADA A REMARKABLE INCREASE (Rec. 10 p.m.) LONDON, June 21. The Minister of Production, Captain Oliver Lyttelton, who has returned to Britain from America, stated that United States production is beginning to roll off the line in ever-increasing quantities. saw Mr Winston Churchill in Washington on Thursday and again on Friday morning. Captain Lyttelton added that Mr Churchill was looking cheerfuL " One corporation in America will, at the end of this year, be producing at the rate of 4,000,000,000 dollars worth of material a year. That is equivalent, in terms of money, to building the Panama canal once every six weeks. Production is being stepped-up beyond what I thought possible," Captain Lyttelton said.
In Canada, some plants were producing 10 times as much as. in the first quarter of 1941.
