CHRISTIAN ORDER

PLANS FOR CAMPAIGN The churches of the city and suburbs, Waikouaiti, Port Chalmers, Taieri, Milton, and Balclutha, were represented at the meeting of the Otago committee of the Campaign for Christian Order. The Rev. R. S. Watson presided. A report of the national committee meeting at Wellington last week was given by the delegate. Principal A. L. Haddon, who outlined the plans already operating to carry the campaign to every district of the Dominion, to the men in camps and to the Maori people. It had been arranged to commence extensive use of press, radio, visits to all types of organisations, workplaces, political and professional conferences, youth and children's weeks, Town Hall meetings in the four main centres, and six weeks' simultaneous preaching in the churches. A leading business man,' who attended by invitation, told the committee that the campaign was being welcomed In business circles quite as much as in the churches, and 40 Wellington men had raised £2OOO toward its cost. A group in Auckland had done almost the same. It was reported that the Campaign Bulletin, of which there had been three issues to date, had been well received by over 2000 ministers and other workers. Wayside posters for use outside churches were being distributed, 150,000 copies of an explanatory pamphlet were ready for issue, together with booklets on "Social Predicament and the Way Out," and " The Churches Speak."
