TOKIO WARNED
SOVIET'S FIRM STAND READY IN FAR EAST The Pravda, official newspaper of the Communist Party, warns Japan that her attack on Britain and the United States has severely strained the SovietJapan neutrality pact, states the Moscow correspondent of the Sydney Daily Telegraph. "If the Japanese wish the pact to continue they must change their policy," the Pravda says. " They must take the same attitude as the Soviet Union, which never violates a treaty." The blunt tone of this warning is fresh evidence that the Soviet, because of its confidence of the military situation on all fronts, is taking an increasingly firm line with Japan. The Pravda's article adds: " Japanese Fascist military leaders, whose heads have been turned by their military successes, must understand that their ballyhoo about winning a war of annexation in the north, can harm Japan first pf all and most of all." Because of the unexpected weakness of German resistance on the western front, where the position every day becomes more hopeful, the Russians are in constant readiness ,to resist an attack from the east by Japan.
