LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

EQUALITY OF SACRIFICE? Sir,—l sea by to-day's paper that Mr Webb has decided that civil defence workers are to be raised to the privileged standard of trade unionists inasmuch as plasterers and bricklayers, at present receiving £9 12s for a 54hour week, are to get tha 5s per week rise recently granted to trade unionists by the Arbitration Court. Mr Fraser also announces that civil servants receiving £l4 14s 3d per week are to get the 5s per week rise. Are members of the rank and file of tha armed forces still to receive only £2 9s per week?' I again make an emphatic protest at the gross injustice meted out to the most important individuals in the Dominion. How much longer will public opinion stand for this injustice?—l am, etc., Oamaru, April 18. R. Finch.
