ORKNEY AND SHETLAND SOCIETY

The annual meeting of the Orkney and Shetland Society was held in the Y.M.C.A. rooms on Tuesday last. The attendance was fair. The president (Mr J. R. Sabiston), speaking to the annual report, stated that the society had again experienced a successful year. The balance sheet showed a small credit, which must be considered satisfactory under the existing conditions. The socials held during the year had been well attended and had been a success in every way. The membership showed a slight decrease for the year. The election of officers resulted as follows:—Patron, Mr William Stevenson; president, Mr A. B. Fraser; immediate oast president, Mr Sabiston; secretary, Mr W. Sabiston; treasurer, Mrs J. Fergus: auditor. Mr J. B. Stout: women's general committee—Mesdames J. R. Fraser, A. Watt. E. Black, M. Nicholson. J. Beecot, W. Sabiston, J. Fergus. W. Stevenson, R. Fraser, Misses Joy Fraser and Kitty Stevenson; M.C., Mr G. R.'Berwick.
