Not since Czarist days have so many people attended the Greek Orthodox Church as went to celebrate the Easter rites in Russia this year, says the Sydney Daily Telegraph’s correspondent. Following the Soviet’s declared policy of religious tolerance, the authorities made no effort to deter the celebrants. Extraordinary scenes v/cre witnessed around those churches and cathedrals which have remained intact since the days of the Revolution and have not been converted into museums.
