SMELTING ORDERED

GERMAN CHURCH BELLS (Rec. 11.15 p.m ) LONDON. Apl. 13. Swedish newspapers report from Berlin that the authorities have ordered a general smelting of German church bells. Churches are allowed to retain one. and sometimes two, but the rest must be surrendered for conversion into cannons. Town hall bells and others are also being smelted/except those historically valuable. Bells in the Baltic States have been confiscated for the same purpose.
