WOMEN’S DIVISION N.Z. FARMERS’ UNION

Dunedin. —Meeting held at the home of Mrs E. P. Rowlatt. Mesdames Evans and Leatham were hostesses. Mrs E. Skinner presided. It was decided to give three dozen cups and saucers to the Otago Pioneer Women’s Association Future meetings will be held in the memorial building. Members were pleased to hear that the Women’s Division gift plane is being piloted by a son of a W.D. member of many years’ standing, Sergeant Don. Griffith, of Levin, the youngest pilot in the New Zealand Fighter Squadron. The “ bring and buy” sale for minesweepers was held as usual.

Weston.—Mrs I. Mitchell presided. Motto: “Do a kindness and forget it; get a kindness done and never forget it”. Roll call: "A holiday experience ” and “Something for a soldier’s parcel." The sum of £2 4s raised by the Red Cross quilt was handed to the Red Cross. Mrs Brightwell demonstrated the making of camouflage nets. Social half-hour: Mrs Tate. Mrs Laney was hostess. Competitions; Christmas cake —Mrs Innes 1, Mrs Laney 2. Mrs Campbell 3; bloom, Mrs Innes; shopping bag, Mrs Laney. Duntroon. —Mrs E. K. Haugh presided. Roll call: “A cooking hint.” Competition: Girdle scones, Mrs E. K. Haugh 1, Mrs West 2; frock, Miss G. Priest and Mrs G. G. Sutherland (equal) 1. Hostesses: Mesdames A. Gibson and R. Hay. , Henley. Mrs Wilson presided. Donations are to bs made to the Pioneer Women’s Memorial Fund and to the General. Fend. Orders were taken for the cookery book “Brave Days.” A “bring and buy” sale was held.

The quarterly meeting of the Otago Provincial Executive of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union was held on Wednesday. Those present were Mrs W. Annan (Clyde), president, Mesdames W. Elliott (Clarendon),, J. F. Drake (Berwick), J. Clark (Lovell’s Flat), J. C. Anderson (Stirling), J. W. McKenzie (Waikoikoi), A. Allison (Hawed Flat), R. J. E. Smith (Maniototo), G. ! Renwick (Middlemarch)j J. T. McHaffle (Clinton), T. McNab (Tahatika), J. Wilson (Macandrew Bay), E. Skinner (Dunedin), W- Lee (Waikouaiti), Miss Stewart (Milton), Mrs J. J. Leatham (housekeeping secretary), and Mrs E. Wendelken (general secretary).
