MANSLAUGHTER CHARGE

TWO ACCUSED REMANDED (PA.) INVERCARGILL, Mar. 2. In the Magistrate’s Court this morning, William Lawrence, aged 42, a farmer, of Makarewa, and James Mann, aged 69, a labourer, of Makarewa, appeared before Mr R. C. Abernethy. S.M., jointly charged with wilfully killing John Meagher and thereby committing manslaughter. Senior Detective R_. Thompson asked that both the accused should be remanded until March 11.

The magistrate remanded the accused until March 11 and allowed bail of £SOO and one surety of £SOO in each case.
