A NEW COMET

VISIBLE THROUGH SMALL TELESCOPE (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Mar. 2. A new comet, which was discovered on/ February 12 by an observer named Bernasconi, of the Lund Observatory. Sweden, has appeared in the celestial sphere. "It is reported to be of diffused appearance, with central condensation and a tail longer than one degree. The magnitude of the comet is eight, which is below visibility to the naked eye, but it should be seen auite easily with a small telescope. Advice to this effect has been received from Melbourne by the Carter Observatory. When first observed the comet’s right ascension was 12 hours 18 minutes, and its declination north 19 degrees 21 minutes. It was suggested that its daily motion across the sky was west 9min 42sec and south 23min.
