MONTHLY MEETING OF COUNCIL

The monthly meeting of the Mosgiel Borough Council was held last night, the Mayor (Mr W. P. Hartstonge) presiding. Crs T Gibson, J. S. Blackie, W. P. Dyer, J. S - McCartney, and E. J. Wilson were also present. Cr H. C. Connor was granted leave of absence during his period of military service! . „ R.U.R. (N.Z.), Ltd., wrote offering "allsafe ” shelter tops for trenches at a stated price.—Received. Mr E Fletcher Roberts advised that he was still expecting some quotations for the pump for the bore in the borough vard. He would forward a full report in March. —Noted. Mr W. H. ' Knott, Railway Hotel, Mosgiel, wrote giving permission to excavate trenches on his property.—Received with thanks. , ~ ■ . , The clerk reported that a supply of dog collars would be ready in a few daijg,'— The necessary resolution fixing the ' tees and authorising the appointment of a dog registrar was carried. The customary arrangements for the observance of Anzac Day were approved. The clerk reported that one building permit had been issued since last meetThe chairman of the Finance Committee stated that the sum of £9l 11s 3d was owing in respect of outstanding rales and that suitable action was being taken in the matter The chairman of the Works Committee said that application was being mad« to the appropriate authority for labour to excavate additional public trenches in the borough.
