TRACK WORK AT WINGATUI The outside of the course proper was open yesterday morning, when the going was a bit on the soft side, but provided good galloping. The horses turned a lip. but without going any depth: A continuance of the existing weather will provide perfect going for the meeting on Saturday. Attorney opened proceedings by working at a strong pace over a couple ox circuits. Taxpayer and Tissue broke away at the seven furlongs on the course and covered the distance in lmin 32 3-ssec—the last six in lmin 20 l-ssec. Helpmate and Prince Flaneur took lmin Bsec over five furlongs. Sally Sage and Sir Saladin kept together when leaving five furlongs behind in lmin 6 2-ssec without being fully extended. Kohara travelled over five furlongs in lmin 4 2-ssec. , „ . Astaire and Miss Sally required lmin 7 2-ssec to cover five furlongs. Compeer, Money Bird and Prince Leighon jumped away at the five-furlong post and came on in company to the home turn, where Prince Leighon dropped back. When stirred up. Prince Leighon rejoined the others and the three crossed the line in close order in lmin 6 l-ssec—the last half in 53 2-ssec. Georgia covered a mile on the sand in lmin 50 4-ssec. He bears an improved appearance. Lord .Nuffield and Islay Downs were responsible for six furlongs in lmin 20 l-ssec. Lord Nuffield, on the outside, moved a bit sluggishly. Invincible, Gold Bell and Irish Queen left half a mile behind in 57 l-ssec in a working gallop. Lady Nuffield did a strong working gallop over seven furlongs in lmin 37 2-ssec. Whang and Hunting Chorus got through a working gallop on the sand. Forte drew away from three others in a barrier start and cast half a mile behind him in 53 2-ssec. Point BlanM (H. Anderton) and Joy Boa (Powell) were schooled over three flights of hurdles. Roseman, Coy, Light Cavalry, Berrima, Distress Signal, and others got through useful tasks.
