WOMAN MEMBER
MRS GRIGG^KES-HER SEAT
(f.0.p.r.) Wellington; Feb. 10. The , first woman member. of the National Party to be-elected to the House of Representatives, Mrs M. V w C. Grigg (Mid-Canterbury), ; was\ to-day sworn in as a imembfer of Parliament. As she returned ,to her seat. Mrs Grigg was given a found" of applause by members on both the Government and Opposition benches. Mrs Grigg, who was seated on a bench at the side of the aisle opposite that occupied by Mrs C. C. S. Stewart (Govt., Wellington West), carried a bouquet of red roses' presented to her by the Canterbury women's division of the National Party. She wore a dress of navy blue crepe, with a white sprig pattern and a white collar. Her sponsors were Mr W. J. Broadfoot (Chief Opposition Whip) and Mr D. C. Kidd (Opposition, Waitaki).
