PACIFIC WAR COUNCIL
FIRST MEETING IN LONDON (Rec. 11.50 p.m.) LONDON, Feb. 10. The Prime Minister, Mr Churchill, is presiding at the first meeting of the Pacific War Council, which is being held in London to-day. Britain, the Netherlands East Indies, Australia, and New Zealand each have representatives on the council. Other Ministers and advisers will attend as necessary. MR JORDAN ATTENDS TEMPORARY APPOINTMENT (F.0.P.R.) WELLINGTON, Feb. 10. The appointment of the High Commissioner for New Zealand in London, Mr W. J. Jordan, to represent New Zealand temporarily on the Pacific War Council was announced in the House of Representatives to-day by the Prime Minister, Mr Fraser. Mr Fraser said that the council, which was responsible for co-ordinat-ing the views of the governments concerned in the higher direction of the war in the Pacific, consisted of representatives of the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Australia, and New Zealand. Pending the appointment of a New Zealand Ministerial representative on the council, these meetings would be attended by the High Commissioner, Mr Jordan.
