PATRIOTIC APPEAL

METROPOLITAN ZONE MEETING OF COMMITTEE The Mayor (Mr A. H. Allen) presided over a meeting of the Metropolitan District Zone Committee yesterday, when reports were received from representatives of the various sub-zone committees regarding arrangements being made to raise £150,000 in Otago for the All Purposes Patriotic 1942 Appeal. It may be explained that there are seven zones in Otago, as follows: North Otago, Maniototo, Metropolitan, South Otago, Tuapeka, Vincent, and Lakes, and each has its sub-zones. The Metropolitan Zone Committee embraces the following sub-zones:—Dunedin-St. Kilda, Palmerston-Maheno, Waikouaiti, Taieri, Peninsula, Port Chalmers, West Harbour and Green Island. Each zone is expected to raise a quota of the £150,000 aimed at, and the Dunedin-St. Kilda Sub-zone is required to,raise £73,000. Reports on the various methods of raising money were submitted, and the steps being taken to organise attractions and raise funds were outlined.
