GAELIC SOCIETY

MONTHLY MEETING The first meeting of the Dunedin Gaelic Society for the year, was held on Friday night in the R.S.A. social hall, and was presided over by Chief A. Matheson, who was accompanied by Chieftains W. H. McLeod, C. Macdonald, T. Stuart, R. Mcßae, D. Mclhnes, and W. R. McKenzie. Reference was made by the chief to the death since the last meeting of two old members—Mrs Morrison and Mrs Davidson, and the piper played a,, lament to their memory. Before opening v the musical programme the choir sang in Gaelic " God Save the King." The programme was as follows: —Gaelic songs, "O, teannaibh dluth 'us t'ogaibh fbnn " and " C'ait an Caidil an Ribhinn," choir; songs, " We're a' Scottish Here" and " O Sing to me the Auld Scotch Sangs," Mrs Little; Highland reel, Misses Tobin, Galvin, Bishop, and, Ryan; Gaelic songs, " Mo Dhachaidh " and " CruaclianBeann," Miss Kennedy; songs, ' 'Garden of Happiness". and "What a Wonderful World it Would Be," Miss Hilda Paul; Irish jig. Miss Dysart; songs, "Where has Scotland Found Her Fame? " and " Keep the Home Fires Burning," Miss Darracott; selection on the phiob-more, Piper Airdrie Stewart; choral selections, " Och nan och! tha mi fo mliulad " and "Thainia an Gille dubh"; songs, '.' The Auld Scotch Sangs" and " Turn Ye to Me;" Miss Dorothy Barron; sword dance, Miss June Ryan; Gaelic songs, 1 " Se mo Cheist an Gille Donn " and "An Gille Ban," Miss Rene McAskill; seann triubhais, Miss Jessie Brown; Gaelic song, " O nacli till thu ruinn a Ris " and "An t'Eillean Muileach," Mrs W. Matheson; duet, " The Keel Row " and "Arise, O Sun," Miss Dorothy Barron and Miss Pat Wood.

Miss George played the accompaniments and Piper Airdrie Stewart played-for Miss Pat Atkinson's reel party. A vote of thanks to the performers was moved by Chieftain W. R. MacKenzifc, and carried by acclamation.
