REVENUE AND EXPENDITURE NO REAL DISCREPANCIES (F.0.P.R.) WELLINGTON, Feb. 6. "From the details at my disposal, I feel that the revenue and expenditure, from the Social Security Fund will be in general agreement with the earlier estimate." said the Minister of Social Security, Mr W. E. Parry, when he was asked to-day to explain the figures recently quoted by the Minister of Finance, Mr Nash. "It would certainly seem from the figures' published that the payment of monetary benefits had fallen, but this is riot the case," said the Minister. " This apparent discrepancy can be accounted for by an adjustment with the imprests "for the" months in question, and when these outstanding imprests are dissected it will be shown that, in fact, the expenditure on monetary benefits has increased as anticipated. In the figures- quoted in the,analysis of the Dominion's finances,' cash uriprests and advances at December 31 were more than £1,000,000 higher than those for the previous year/' f Mr Parry said that the actual expenditure on monetary benefits was shown on the more detailed information now-available to be some £216,000 above last year's total; Another 'fcoint which might require some explanation was the payment received from registration fees arid penalties, but here again it was merely a matter of an accounting adjustment. When the figures for the full year were .published a more accurate picture would be obtained; ;'\ *i"...;
