January 24, was 490 z 15dwt for 132 hours from 16,124 cubic yards. OKARITO RETURN The Okarito Five Mile Beach Gold Dredging Company, Ltd., report a wash-up of 14oz 14dwt of gold as the result of 195 J hours’ dredging, TIN STATISTICS WORLD PRODUCTION According to’ the current issue of the, Tin Research Institute’s Statistical Bulletin, -world production of tin in September last was estimated at 19,400 long tons, compared with 21,800 tons in September, 1940. Production for the first nine months was 185,900 tons in 1941, against 165,400 tons in 1940. United States deliveries totalled 12,715 tons In September, 1941, against 13,625 tons in August. The tin consumption; of the .United Kingdom was 2079-tons in August, ’ 1941, against 2418 tons in July and 2322 tons in August, 1940. World stocks of tin, including smelters’ stocks and carry-over, decreased by 4135 tons during September last to 46,729 tons at the end of the month. Stocks at the end of September, 1940, were 52,824 tons. COLOMBO TEA SALE

Mr L. M. Wright has received the following cabled report on the Colombo tea auction of January 20:—At the weekly tea sale of 4,500,0001 b, all grades were in strong demand. Common teas remained steady, while medium and top quality teas advanced 3d t'o Id. The quality of the offerings showed improvement. A total of 2,500,0001 b will be submitted to buyers at next week's sale.
