DEATH OF SOLDIER (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Jan. 16. A gunner at a fort, Thomas Hargraves Walmsley, single, aged 36, whose home is in Waitara, collapsed and died at the fort this afternoon. STRUCK BY TRAMCAR (P.A.) AUCKLAND, Jan. 16. Fatal injuries were received by an elderly man when ho was struck by a tramcar in Remuera. The victim was John Alexander Prentice, a married man, aged 68, a blacksmith. He was admitted to hospital suffering from severe concussion, head injuries, and a compound fracture of the left arm, and died 10 minutes later. THROWN FROM HORSE Private W. A. Campbell, aged 28, was admitted to the Public Hospital yesterday suffering from concussion received when he was thrown from a horse at Waitati.
