Westport Trots.—A horse train from Christchurch to Westport for the trotting meeting carried 52 horses and 100 attendants. Grattan Loyal.—The place-getters in the Winton Stakes were got by Grattan Loyal, who was imported in 1930 and stood two seasons in Southland. A Select Trio.—Only three horses, in Gold Bar. Acron, and Realm have beaten 2min 4sec in a race. The two last-named went from a flying start. Josedale Grattan.—When he won the St. Helier’s Handicap at Auckland, Josedale Grattan, from a slow start, and on a slow track, went 2mln 35 3-ssec from post to post. The course record was held by Roi I’Or, who went 2mln 36 2-ssec when second to Indianapolis, who put up 2min 39sec in 1934 when winning the Champion Handicap. Gold Bar. An assault against the watch will be made by Gold Bar to-mor-row at Addington. According to reports from Christchurch, and the fact that he went 2min 3 2-isec from a flat-foot start under saddle, it is confidently anticipated that he will lower the existing record of Imln 59 2-ssec established by Lawn Derby.
