CENTRAL OTAGO POWER BOARD

TO THE EDITOR Sir, —I notice that the Central Otago Power Board is asking the ratepayers to sanction another £13,000 loan to build yet further additions to the Meg scheme. To serve the small population of Central Otago one generating station is located at Roxburgh, one at the Meg, Cromwell, one in Queenstown Borough, and one at Wye Creek, and the Power Board desires yet another halfway up the mountain at the Meg scheme. In Central Otago we need one largesize scheme. I ref£r ’to the Nevis scheme or the Hawea scheme, which would supply both power and irrigation. These numerous small schemes will delay for years any prospects of a national asset in the form of. a fullsized scheme.—l am, etc.,

Cromwell,. Dec. 15. What’s Watt.
