WATEA WINS C GRADE The Otago Croquet Association’s C Grade matches are finished except for the postponed one between Taieri and Montecillb, which is to be played after Christmas. This match cannot affect the fate of the shield, which has been won by Wat-.a. The position of the other teams. In-this grade are:—Watea 22 (723), Tainui 20 (701), Logan Park 14 (630), St. Clair 6 (507). The Watea Club thus wins both the A Grade arid the C Grade-- shields. ' The Ferns,' Cpmpetittoh- IsV halfway throqgh“i:wd : the competition Will be resumed at the end of January. In thicompetition Tainui had a, “ field day ” against L6ith last. Saturday, the score in favour of Tainui being 80—38.
There is little likelihood of .the- Dominion’ tournaments being held, but no official decision has yet been made. An official announcement is expected in the next lew days. In the absence of a .South Island event, it might be practicable for the Otago Association to conduct a patriots tournament in its place, and no doubt the executive will consider something of this nature as soon •as the decision of the New Zealand Council is available.
