LANCASHIRE AND YORKSHIRE SOCIETY

The Lancashire and Yorkshire Society held its Christmas social on Saturday in the Harrop Street Hall. The president (Mr F. D. Swift) was in the chair, and Mrs Macdonell and Miss, McAra acted as accompanists. Mrs ' Braithwaite was the winner of the " Scent" Competition. Games and dancing and the singing of Christmas carols were enjoyed by all. These were interspersed with items by the following: Songs—Miss Errington, Miss Ledgerwood, and Mrs Brightling; Yorkshire reading, Mrs Walker; reading from Dickens. Mr A. Ellis; recitation, Miss Gaynor Braithwaite.
