The Dunedin Homing Pigeon Club flew their longest and final race of the 1941 old bird season from Hicks Bay last week-end, when 33 birds representing 12 lofts were 'liberated in fair weather,.- Drizzling rain in the Canterbury district slowed them up and the winning bird, a blue pied cock (No. 37-1113), made a good flight, covering the 710 miles in 23 hours 23 minutes, at a velocity of 889 yards per minute.
