NORTH END ANNIVERSARY OTAGO CLUB WINS CUP To celebrate its fiftieth anniversary the North End Boating Club held an Interdub regatta on Saturday afternoon. The trophy for the occasion was the Butterfield Cup, awarded for aggregate points, and It was won by the Otago Rowing Club, which scored 35 points, the North End Club being runner-up with 20 points. The Port Chalmers Rowing Club was the only other club represented, and scored 13, points. The cup was won last year .by the .North End Club, and in the previous two years by the Queen’s Drive Boating Club, of Port Chalmers, which on this occasion was unable to muster a crew owing to war enlistments. It was a very enjoyable afternoon’s sport, witnessed by a fair crowd of rowing enthusiasts, including many noted former rowers. A fine standard of rowing was demonstrated by the 60 odd oarsmen who participated, the course being one of a mile from the Rayensbourne Fertiliser wharf to a point opposite the North End Club’s boat shed, Mr C. Wilson started the crews, and' the judges were Mr A. T. W. Watson, president of the North End Club, Mr T. O’Shea, president of the Dunedin Regatta Club, and Mr E. M. Wilson, secretary of the Otago Rowing Club. The races resulted as follows: Pour-oared Events.—Senior; North End 1, Otago 2, Port Chalmers 3. , Junior: Otago 1, North End 2. Maiden: Otago 1, North End 2, Port Chalmers 3. Youths: Otago 1, North End 2, Port Chalmers 3. Pair-oared Races. —Senior: Port Chalmers .1, North End 2. Junior: Otago 1 and 2. Maiden: Otago 1, North End 2, Port Chalmers 3. Youths: Otago 1 and 2, North End 3. Singles.—Senior: Port Chalmers 1, Otago 2. Junior; Otago 1 and 3, Port Chalmers 2. Maiden; Otago 1, North End 2 and 3. Youths: North End 1, Otago 2, Port Chalmers 3. .
