INSTRUCTIONS T 0 SOLICITORS TRANSFER OF THE DEEDS On November 30, 1940, officials of the Otago Provincial Patriotic Council met in the Garrison Hall in Dowling street to supervise the drawing of the various art unions conducted during the queen carnival held for patriotic funds. Among the prizes was the £3500 house, which has since been erected at the junction of Heriot row and Pitt street. The butt of the'winning <ticket bore the nom de plume of " Nick," and the holder proved to be Mrs J. R. Nicholson, the wife of a marine dealer. The day before the drawing of the art union the chairman of the Patriotic House Committee (Mr.H. McDowell Smith) gave an assurance that the house would be completed by January of this year. A month's work had been x done on the house, and half the brickwork had been erected. Events beyond the control of .the, committee, however, delaved the work, and it was stated by Mr Smith yesterday that the house would be finally readv for Mrs Nicholson to take over within a day or two.- * ■ ■■■■ :■•■'.
