PRISONERS OF WAR
NEW AIR MAIL FACILITY
LIGHT-WEIGHT LETTERCARD (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Nov. 13. The introduction of a special lightweight airmail lettercard for communicating with New Zealand and other British prisoners of war interned abroad is announced by the Post-master-general, Mr P. C. Webb. The lettercards will be available at Is 6d (including postage) on Monday next. The Minister said that with good connections the lettercard should reach Germany in about three to four weeks after despatch. He stressed that the address should be accurately and clearly shown, especially in writing to Germany, and also that the letters should be legibly written. Communications for prisoners of war, which should contain only news of personal interest, should be posted well before the day of the closing of the airmail. Mr Webb added that the lettercard service would be additional to existing facilities.
