Making his way along the track on the south tiphead at Greymouth ]ust before dawn on a recent morning, a whitebait fisherman had an alarming experience, when a dark object, over which he stumbled, barked at him. It was subsequently found to be a sea lion, about five feet long. One of its flippers showed marks of a severe wound. The sea lion remained on “.he rocks near the tiphead throughout the day.
