SHORTAGE OF DOG COLLARS

A shortage of dog collars for the 1942 issue was anticipated, stated a letter received at the monthly meeting of the Waikouaiti County Council yesterday. A manufacturer advised that, although supplies of buckles and " D.’s ” had been ordered from England in January, none had been delivered. The export of rivets from England was prohibited, but an endeavour had been made to obtain supplies from America. Regret was expressed that delivery for next season could not be guaranteed. Members of the council expressed concern that dog collars would not be available. The clerk (Mr P. Gordon) reported that the Waikouaiti Council alone issued about 600 collars each year.
