PLUNKET SYSTEM
HER EXCELLENCY'S TRIBUTE VALUE IN PEACE AND WAR (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Oct. 15. "I brought up my own three children on the Plunket system, so I know what very helpful advice is given," said her Excellency Lady Newall. speaking at the opening of the annual conference of the Plunket Society at St. Francis Hall to-day. New Zealand, as a land of .healthy babies, was known throughout the world, she said, and it was wonderful work the members of the society were doing in helping to build future healthy citizens. She had met several of the nurses, and been very much interested in seeing and hearing of their work. She hoped that it would grow from strength to strength. The work of the society was both for war-time and peace-time—babies and families were for all lime, and the strength of a nation lav in its families, especially good families. The splendid work of the society must go on and increase in all sections. A sustained effort was what each member could contribute, and this was necessary to carry on the benefits to the community. About 200 delegates from 70 branches Were present at the conference.
