HOARDING OF SOVEREIGNS

FARM LABOURER'S SAVINGS An elderly farm labourer recently produced 150 sovereigns at an antique shop in Bognor Regis (says The Times) and sold them for £2BB 15s. The labourer said that he had carried the sovereigns about with him for 40 years. The secretary of the Trustee Savings Banks' Association has pointed out that, if the labourer had deposited his sovereigns in a savings bank 40 years ago. he would to-day have been, able to withdraw about £402, and at the same time they would have been of value to the Government for the whole of that period.
