TO THE EDITOR Sir, —Miss Gow says in her letter in Tuesday’s Daily Times that I can only associate the idea of new liberties with tyranny and wickedness. Ido this because Socialism in full bloom spells nothing else than tyranny and wickedness! Christ said that “the thief cometh not, buffer to steel, and to kill, and to destroy.” That is the real aim of Socialism. Socialism gets into power in the first, place by deceiving the people .with its wiles and devices. The Socialists bribe the gullible people with false promises which they know they can never keep. But when once they get them into their trap how they lord it over them! “ Surely in vain the net is spread in the sight of any bird." If only some people would read the Bible more regularly, carefully and thoughtfully they would not be so easily deceived. Where State Socialism is the order of the day “darkness covers the earth and gross darkness the people.”—l am, etc., Dunedin, October 9. Maran-ath*.
