RED CROSS NEWS

All voluntary aids are asked to attend drill practice at the Drill Hall bn Wednesday next at 5.45 p.m. There will be six practices, and those intending to be present are ejected to attend on the first day. First-year V.A.’s, including those about to sit for their examination, are invited. Miss Doris O. Ramsay advises that, because of these drill parades, the physical culture classes will be discontinued until next year. 1 Artificial Resuscitation.— Notice to No. 1 and No. 2 detachments. Dunedin Central and Dunedin North: A course of classes In artificial resuscitation will begin on Monday at St. Hilda’s College at 7.30 p.m. The course will consist of four lectures on four consecutive Mondays, omitting Labour Day, and will be followed by a practical examination.

Request A request has been received for magazines, books, etc., for the soldier patients in the various hospitals. Books of the “ Penguin ” series are very acceptable, as they are light in weight, and the men find them easy to hold up in bed. Gifts may be left at the secretary’s office. Garden Party

The St. Clair-Caversham V.A.D.’s and sub-centre will hold a garden party at Mrs Bruce Smith’s home, 21 Middleton street. Kew, on Saturday, October 18, commencing at 2 p.m. A large attendance of members is requested, as the garden is looking at its best at present. Acknowledgments
