TRAVEL CLUB
Amusing incidents of domestic life in Malaya were related by Mrs W. G. Ayton at the meeting bf the Travel Club yesterday morning. "Malayan," said the speaker, "is a very pretty language, and easy to learn, but amusing mistakes are almost inevitable in one's dealings with the natives. Mrs Ayton, who has lived for some years in Ipoh. the centre of the richest tin mining area in the world, described the towns that grew haphazardly when the Chinese prospectors came down the peninsula in search of tin Narrow streets, beautifully tar-sealed, with no footpaths, but the " five-foot way" which is the property of the owners of the adjacent shops, though it may be used by pedestrians are i feature of these towns. Mr L M Wright, president of the club, reminded members that the Dugout would be in charge of the Travel Club on Friday. October 17, and Mrs R. Hudson, the lady president, urged members to support this project and to attend the next evening function, winch is to be held on Tuesday. October 21. Mr W. R. Brugh will be the speaker
