COMMUNITY SING
COLLECTION OF £26 There was a large attendance at the twenty-first community sing of the year, held in the Strand Theatre yesterday, and the usual leaders were present. The collection for the Relief of London Distress Fund totalled £26. No fewer than seven songs by New Zealand composers were on the programme. and all proved very popular. Mrs M. Oliver, the soloist, rendered “ Love’s Old Sweet Song ” and “ Sour Milk Cart.” A violin outfit given by Mrs M. R. Hamilton brought £5 at auction, and other articles had ready sales. The hymn yesterday was “Abide with Me.” sung to the memory of Mrs F. Jones. Donations are acknowledged as follows;—“Normanby” (weekly), 4s; L C. L.
