MONTHLY MEETING \ The mdnthly meeting of the committee of the Otago A. and P. Society was held on Thursday afternoon, and was attended by Messrs W. Lee (president) in the chair, K. Clark. C. M. Bruce, J R. Fairbairn, J. Mee, J. A. Miller, J E. Brunton, Crosby Morns. W. S. Thomson, John Allison, John Young, W H. Elliot. T. D. Dalziel, A H. Templeton, John Hellyer, H. M Driver, S. P. Cameron, R. T. Kirk D. M, Reid, and John Mitchell. The Finance Committee reported having considered accounts amounting in £257 Is 6d, which were passed for aayment. The bank balance was in :redit £682 Os 2d, and outstanding cheques amounted to £29 14s 2d. The action of the Finance Commii tee in writing to the City Council asking that, if possible, the lifting of the Tahuna tramline should be left until ifter the Summer Show was approved. The Special Committee set up to revise the Summer Show schedule and crizes reported having met recently The recommendations of the commit,ee were detailed bv the secretary and ipproved. School Drill Display The steps taken by the president to secure a mass school drill display at he show was approved, and as this natter now rested with the Headmas-' ers’ Association, it was decided that, f the association approved, a deputaion, should place the oosition fully beore it. Judges for the Summer Show were lominated for several sections, and the ippointments in other sections were eft to the various sub-committees. Special prize donations for the Sumner Show were received with thanks, he president expressing the gratitude jf the society for the generous assistince given by individuals and firms. A circular letter from the Returned Soldiers’ Association was received regarding donations of stock for a land lettlement scheme for 2nd N.Z.E.F. nen, and after some discussion this natter was referred to the Cattle Comnittee for a report. A letter from the Royal Agricultural Society was received regarding the iroposed introduction by the Government of an immediate systematic inpection of all factory supply herds, dth a view to the disposal of clinical
cases of tuberculosis without compensation, and this matter also was referred to the Cattle Committee. Roxburgh Shearing Classes The syllabus for the shearing classes to be held at Roxburgh from October 28 to November 7, arranged by the Otago Primary Production Council, was considered. Members agreed that the project was worthy of all the support that could be given to it, and the secretary said he would be pleased to give details to anyone requiring information regarding the classes The admission prices for the Summer Show were fixed at 2s for men, Is for women and fid for children, and it was agreed that tickets should be available fob sale before the show.
