MEDICAL PRACTICE
TO THE EDITOR
Sir,—For several days your columns have contained reports of protest meetings against the “ Doctors’ Bill.” At all of these the high standard of service given by doctors has been stressed. There is one practice among the profession which greatly lowers the value of that claim. It is the shielding of negligent or incompetent doctors and surgeons by the rest of the profession. Not only does this practice make it almost impossible for an injured patient to obtain redress and damages where unnecessary suffering has been caused, but it also means that the profession as a whole condones, in fact, the malpractices of the minority. Under these circumstances, can Dr North expect general public support when the B.M.A. members do not protect the people they claim to serve?— I am, etc.. Honesty,
Luggate. Sept. 25. [The writer of the above letter states that, if desired, his name is available to Dr North.—Ed.. 0.D.T.l
