TO THE EDITOR
Sir, —I am afraid your report of the meeting of householders at the NorthEast Valley .School might convey to those who were not present a wrong impression of the tenor of my remarks. I acknowledged the advantages enjoyed by intermediate schools, especially as regards staffing. At the same time I expressed the opinion that some of the advantages claimed were exaggerated. I made no attempt to influence the householders —it was evident long before I spoke that their minds were already made up. Against the recognised advantages of intermediate school education the parents of North-East Valley have to consider other factors, and I think in this case the distance to the Dunedin North Intermediate School was the deciding factor, — I am, etc., C, Parr.
