HIGH STREET SCHOOL
INSPECTION OF NEW ROOMS
The newly-renovated High Street School was inspected by a large number of parents, ex-pupils, and friends of the school when an open night was held last Tuesday. The school has been entirely renovated and brought up to date. It was very evident to all who inspected the rooms that a great deal of time and thought had been given to the planning of material for the interest of the children. Many favourable comments were heard, especially on the library rooms for the -junior and senior pupils. After some time had been spent reviewing the school, the visitors assembled in the new hall. Here a social function was Hold, at which the chanman of the School Committee, Mr S. P. Cameron, reviewed the history of the school and urged all present to show their interest in a practical way. He stated that the committee had incurred obligations in respect of the hall and that very soon a dental clinic would be erected. Mr J. Mclntyre, the headmaster, also spoke, and said that the staff was co-operating with the committee in its effort. Pie urged support for the spring flower show. Several items by ex-pupils were given, after which tbs meeting agreed to the formation of a Parents’ Association, and a provisional committee was elected to bring forward plans and a suggested constitution to a later meeting.
