ANGLERS’ SOCIAL
ANNUAL SMOKE CONCERT JUBILEE OF OTAGO ASSOCIATION A record gathering of ICO persons attended the jubilee smoke social of the Otago Anglers’ Association held in the Embassy Salon last night. The function proved most enjoyable. The Anglers’ Association was the first anglers' club established in New Zealand. and an interesting review of its history was given by the jubilee chairman (Mr H. G. Williams) last night. He covered the period from 1889 to 1941, which, he said, was within the range of his experience. His address held the close attention of all present. After the loyal toast had been honoured, the principal toast, “The Chairman,” was proposed by Mr C. Arnold. after which Mr Williams gave his address. Other toasts were: “Past Presidents,” proposed by Mr C. Kenward. and replied to by Mr S. Barnes; “Sister Clubs” (Mr H. Millow); “The Acclimatisation Society ” (Mr J. Spiro, Mr J. Fountain): 'and “With the Colours” (Mr W. Young).
The presentation of prizes won during the year, and of the Inter-club Cup and Championship Shield, was made by Mr C. A. Wilson. A number of items added to the enjoyment of the night.
