LAWN TENNIS

BALMACEWEN CLUB The annual meeting of the Balmaccwen Lawn Tennis Club was held on Monday night, when members were the guests of the president, Mr A. McMillan, in the Tudor Hall. Moving the adoption of the annual report and balance sheet, the president congratulated the club on a successful season, both financially and otherwise, and also the Intermediate Grade team on its success in winning the competition in this grade. In spite of the fact that, owing to war duties, the male membership had been almost halved, an increase in the number of lady members had enabled the club to maintain an income level little below that of former years, and, while further difficulties would have to be faced in the coming season, he forecast another successful year. Mr G. H. Seddon seconded the adoption of the report, which was carried unanimously. The following office-bearers were elected for the ensuing year:-Presi-dent, Mr A McMillan; secretary, Mr A A ' Orion: committee —Miss B. Thomson. Miss E. Sharp, Mrs J. McDonald, Mr A. Bollons. Mr A. Tyrrell and Mr F. L. C. Scrivener; captain, Mr A. Bollons; Match Committee—Miss E. Buchler. Mr A. Bollons and Mr G. H. Seddon; ladder secretary. Miss R. Melville; delegates to the Otago Lawn Tennis Association, Mr A, McMillan and Mr F. -L. C. Scrivener. It was resolved to hold the opening for the season on Saturday. After adjourning for supper, the meeting closed with a vote of thanks and musical honours to the president. -CONCORD CLUB The annual general meeting of the Concord Lawn Tennis Club was held recently, when Mr H. E. Connor presided. Moving the adoption of the annual report and balance sheet, Mr Connor complimented the club on its satisfactory position, both financially and with regard to membership. . The following officers were elected: —Patron, Mr G, Orange; president. Mr HE. Connor; vice-presidents—Mr S. J. Andrew (active), Messrs T. Trevathan, J. Mitchell, D. Stewart and E. J. Stewart: auditor. Mr J. Holland; club captain. Mr K. Pryde; secretary. Miss A. Connor; treasurer, Mr D. Quaid; ■committee —Miss R. Bennett, Mrs J. 'Holland. Messrs M. Baker and J. Holland; Ladder Committee. Miss R. Bennett and Mr M, Baker, The club will open the season on Saturday.
