MUSSELBURGH SCHOOL
The monthly meeting of the Musselburgh School Committee was held oh Tuesday night, presided over by Mr W. M. Caddie, chairman. In recognition ,of the good work being carried out by Mr J. B. v Grant in-forwarding."monthly correspondence to" the boys at the front, it Was decided to donate a guinea towards the funds collected to carry out this good work. Incidentally, it was pointed out: that -about 150 ex-pupils of the school benefited in this connection.
The headmaster, submitting his report, stated that in spite of the prevailing colds, mumps, etc., the attendance for the month had averaged 92 per cent... "' -i: . •-■ The sporting activities of the school continue to be of a high order, and congratulations were extened to two members .of the school team, Colin Drake and Spencer Brent, on their attaining honours. '•;/■■■;■[ Arbor Dav was observed oh August 7, and a fitting address to the pupils was delivered -. by Mr. G. M. Render* son. The pupils later marched,to the golf links, where 260 trees were planted.
A recent innovation in the nature ot a Home Garden Club had been formed, and had met with ah instantaneous response, 45 pupils having joined the club. ,';
