OTAGO HOSPITAL BOARD
MONTHLY MEETING The monthly meeting of the Otago Hospital Board was held last night, and was attended by the chairman (Mr J. W. Dove), Messrs J. George, ,D. J. Calder, A. Steel, R. Walls, A. F. Quelch, Dr W Newlands. and Miss B. Farquhar, Hospital Statistics The medical superintendent (Dr J. Thomson) submitted the following statistics for Dunedin Hospital for July; Patients remaining on June 30, 416: admitted during July, 592; discharged or died, 593; remaining on July 31, 415; operations performed, 288; out-patients treated,. 2014; patients visited by district nurse, 32,—Noted. Bequest Acknowledged ;/ ; Messrs Dowhie Stewart,. Payne, and Forrester wrote enclosing a cheque for £IOO, representing a bequest under the will of. Thomas Aaron Harvey.—Received with thanks; ‘ Committee Reports The reports of the Benevolent, Sanatorium, Hospital, and Finance Committees were adopted without discussion. When moving the adoption of the Hospital Committee’s report, the chairman said that the board had now reached the stage when it was able to make provision for a new X-ray department'and a further 60 beds. The board had been looking forward to being able to do this for many a long day, and it was now in a position to accept a tender for the new building. . Tender Accepted The board accepted Mr H. Naylor’s tender of £3253 for the erection of a workshop and alterations to the existing buildings for occupational therapy. .
