CHINESE IN DOMINION
BETTERMENT OF CONDITIONS CONFERENCE OF NATIONALS (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Aug, 28. The sixth a!l-New Zealand conference of the New Zealand Chinese Association, held in Wellington, has ended after meeting daily for five days. The following statement has been issued by Mr William Weli:^ The whole position of Chinese in New Zealand was reviewed, and fresh plans for their betterment were discussed and adopted. The conference reaffirmed its wholehearted and unswerving support for the Chinese Government under the able leadership of Marshal Chiahg Kai-shek. A new executive was elected and instructed to continue to work for a better understanding between- Chinese and Europeans in New Zealand. Motions were passed directing the executive to cooperate with and help the authorities in matters of administration concerning Chinese in the Dominion. Special attention wes drawn to the fact, the report concludes, that Great Britain’s future security in the Pacific will be dependent on a strong and free China arid not on an ambitious and self-important Japan.
