MANIOTOTO HOSPITAL
BOARD’S MONTHLY MEETING
The monthly meeting of the Maniototo Hospital Board was held in Ranfurly recently, and was attended by Messrs T. A. Lewis (chair), B. A. Todd, M. H. Hanrahan, W. C. Davis, N. Nicolson, E. Morgan, and P. Aitken, members of the board, and Dr W. S. Eddey, medical superintendent. The medical superintendent reported that 15 males and 24 females were admitted during July, and 15 males and 17 females were discharged during the month, while one female patient had died, leaving 16 patients in hospital at the end of the month. Five babies were born in hospital during the month. A letter was received from the board’s architect, Mr H. McDowell Smith, with a plan and estimate of the cost of glassing-in the porches at the hospital, and the secretary was instructed to ask Mr Smith to prepare the necessary specification, so that the work could be submitted to the Health Department for approval. A letter was received from the Department of Health advising that the appointment of Dr Costello as assistant medical superintendent had been approved. Dr Eudey applied for leave of absence for service overseas, stating that the Health Department, and other departments concerned, had consented to his release. Leave of absence was granted by the board, and the secretary was instructed to call for applications for an acting medical superintendent to be considered at a full meeting of the board. The secretary reported that receipts for July amounted to £1134 17s 9d, and that there was a credit balance in the bank at the date of the, meeting amounting to £6Ol Is 6d.
