FUTILE AIR ATTACKS

NAZI RAIDS ON BRITAIN REASON FOR CESSATION SAN FRANCISCO, (Rec. 11.30 p.m.) Aug. 26. Mr Duff Cooper .'expressed the belief that Germany stopped the bombing of Britain because Hitler was convinced that such attacks were futile. He added: “ Since last September Britain has won five great victories over the Axis, as follows: —(1) she repulsed Hitler’s attempt to invade England, which began with air raids; (2) she defeated Hitler’s attempt to crush British morale by night bombing; (3) she crushed Italy’s abortive campaign in North Africa; (4) she defeated Germany’s attempt to recapture North Africa; (5) she defeated Hitler’s submarine campaign, designed to destroy British communications and transportation lines.”
